Life is a journey, and by nature, humans are social creatures who want to help (maybe not so much in NYC jk)… Think about yourself, if your friend needs a hand with something that isn’t too tedious, chances are you’d probably be willing to help. Now, what happens when you want to transcend your peers or you want to rise the ranks as they say. For example, you’re a person that loves music and you find out your friend’s cousin produces at a studio. I’m willing to bet that your friend would be more than willing to set you up and put you in touch with that person. GRINDING. You helped your friend help their friend, ultimately helping both friends!

Networking success #1: be real about the value you have to add and you’d be surprised who’s going to be willing to help you supply that value where it is demanded.

So you did it, you built off of a relationship of someone in your personal network. You helped them help somebody… and lets be blunt about it, everybody likes to help in one way or another.

Now you landed an internship all thanks to your friend and your friend’s friend… Next step is to continue the trend you started. You used your network of friends and built off of it. But please don’t let the rise to the top stop. Now you must keep doing so and your network will multiply exponentially. You add value through your internship and are real about what you’re passionately trying to accomplish; now your friend’s friend that you’re working for will put you on to their friend. This is THE RISE.

Networking Success #2: Everybody is nurtured and shaped by their peers; those who transcend beyond their peers and develop relationships with those who are at one point “higher than them”, never stop rising… aka WORK YOUR WAY FROM THE GROUND UP THROUGH OTHERS BY ADDING VALUE TO THE PEOPLE THAT CAN ADD VALUE TO YOU!

1. Have I made certain that those I love feel loved?

2. Have I done something today that improved the world?

3. Have I conditioned my body to be more strong flexible and resilient?

4. Have I reviewed and honed my plans for the future?

5. Have I acted in private with the same integrity I exhibit in public?

6. Have I avoided unkind words and deeds?

7. Have I accomplished something worthwhile?

8. Have I helped someone less fortunate?

9. Have I collected some wonderful memories?

10. Have I felt grateful for the incredible gift of being alive?
